Story:There were three brothers in this village. One of them was blind, one was dumb and another was deaf. They had a measure of land and they lived on agriculture. They dug a well and drew water with the help of big pot by lifting. In this process they lost they lost big pot every day. They began to expand the well so that the pot could be saved. The crowbar with which they began to expand the well hit something and blood out came. Surprisingly it was image of Vighneswara. On seeing this dumb man gained speech, deaf one began to hear, and the blind man got his vision. The whole village came to know of it. All were greatly surprised. They left the god image as it was and built a temple around the well.
Since kani means land or a measure of land, pakam means flow of water and the god was found in measure of land with water flow he is known as Kanipkam Varasiddhi Vinayaka The deity can be viewd only from the narrow inner pavilion.

Speciality : It is famous as the adobe of rahu and ketu and as the place where these planetary deities are appeased. Sani deva - the planetary deity Saturn is also worshipped here along with Rahu and Ketu.
Story : Sri means spider, Kala means serpent, Hasti means elephant. A spider wove its web on a lor Siva linga. A serpent swept the web away and worshipped the god with gem stones. When an elephant brought water in trunk and bathed the lord Siva linga the gem stones were washed away. In the sequence of this worship the web was washed away, the spider died. Then angry snake crawled into the elephant’s trunk. The afflicted elephant hits its head against a boulder and died. The snake also died along with the elephant. As all these creatures the course of showing their devotion they attained oneness with god. This holy place emerged in the name of these three creatures.
A huntsman called kannappa filled his mouth with water and emptied it in oblation on the god, offered him meat and was very happy. Sri kalahastiswara wated to test his devotee. He feigned a bleeding eye, Kannappa replaced with his own eyes which he plucked out he won fame as a great devotee and achieved immortality as Bhakta Kannappa.

The kind God blessed the yogi by giving him their images. That is how the God came to be in this place here.

Story : In treata yuga a demon named Somakasura stole the Vedas from lord Bramha and escaped in to the deep ocean. Vedas are considered to be very important in creating earth and creatures. All devathas went to Lord Vishnu and prayed to get back the Vedas. Vishnu in the incarnation of a large fish killed the demon and retrieved them back. When bramha could not find Vishnu in Vikuntha he came in search of him and found god here. So it is called Harigandapuram which means a place where Hari was found. When Vishnu gave the four Vedas to Bramha and Bramha began to propagate them. It came to be called Chaturvedi Mangala Nagapudoli.
